Welcome
At Kusuubira Women Foundation we are committed to empowering teenage and single mothers from marginalised rural communities in Uganda. We do this by training them in hands-on skills, self discovery, ICT, and entrepreneurship. We foster self-sustainability, independence, and economic empowerment by enabling our participants to create, market, and sell their own products.
In addition, our School Outreach Program reaches adolescents in schools to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy prevention, gender equality, and the importance of education.

The Effects
-
Only 22.5% of adolescent girls enroll in secondary education
-
Teenage mothers in Uganda are obligated to spend 246.9 billion UGX (70 million USD) annually on various caregiving expenses
-
In Uganda, 67 districts registered an increase in teenage pregnancies from 2019 to 2020 during Covid.
-
Moreover, the number of single mothers has risen from 20% in 2020 to approximately 30% in 2023
This leads to vulnerability, poverty, unemployment, lack of education and social exclusion.
Our Mission:
Making Change Possible
Kusuubira Women Foundation is on a mission to empower rural teenage and single mothers through hands-on skills and entrepreneurship—and to reach adolescents in schools through awareness campaigns that prevent teenage pregnancy and promote education and equality.

WHAT WE DO
EMPOWERING YOUNG WOMEN TROUGH:
EDUCATION
Teenage pregnancy is a major obstacle to girls' education, leading to school dropouts, limited economic opportunities, and increased vulnerability to exploitation. That is why we are implementing a comprehensive school outreach program that targets adolescent girls and boys in primary and secondary schools, focusing on preventing teenage pregnancy, promoting gender equality, and fostering a culture of solidarity and mutual respect among students.

SKILLS TRAINING
By training women in different skills like croqueting, basket making, tailoring, and sewing, we have the potential to make real and positive change in their lives. We want to enhance our participants' existing skills so they can teach others in turn. This enables them to gain experience and later turn their skills into personal businesses, thereby ensuring self-growth and financial self-sustainability.

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Social entrepreneurs explore business opportunities that have a positive impact on their community, society or the world at large.
The social entrepreneurship sector has proven itself uniquely capable of empowering women leaders in its field, and of changing the lives and welfare of all women. In our workshops we are help women develop entrepreneurship skills in marketing, production, creation, presentation and business modelling to implement income generating social projects.
